I personally used to be 100% against the use of social media. I believed that children should entertain themselves the traditional way -with crayons and paper. I resisted in joining sites such as Facebook and Twitter, until I absolutely needed to -for educational purposes of course! I quickly realized that social media brought me closer to family members who lived in other countries. It allowed me to view their interests and contact them. I felt as if they lived closer to me and that distance was just another word. Social media tightens human relationships if used wisely.

 

Social media can be used for good. However, parents, guardians, and teachers cannot ignore the dangers social media has on children. It can be a whole different place for those who are not educated to use it responsibly. Thus, taking the knowledge you have been informed with, let us educate our children so that they are able to resist the negative influences of social media.
